Near East University, which is among the top 175 universities in the world in the field of "Computer Sciences", which is shown as the best in Turkey, and among the top 200 universities in the world in the field of engineering, introduced artificial intelligence instructors Mr. and Ms. AI Prof. DUX, which will start teaching at the new academic term, at a meeting held with the participation of the TRNC President Ersin Tatar and Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu.

Artificial intelligence-based lecturers developed by the Near East University Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute, Mr. and Ms. AI Prof. DUX, will become an active part of higher education, for the first time in the non-US world. AI Prof. DUX will provide students with a personalized and interactive learning experience.

Mr. and Ms. AI Prof. DUX, which will teach two courses at the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Department of Near East University, was introduced to the public at a meeting held with participation of President Ersin Tatar, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Near East University Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute Director Prof. Dr. Fadi AL-Turjman, who also made speeches. President Ersin Tatar started his speech by congratulating those who contributed to the project, saying, "Professor DUX is a giant step for the TRNC in our increasingly digitalized world with artificial intelligence. I congratulate each and every one of them.” Touching on the TRNC's domestic car GÜNSEL, which was born on the Near East University campus, President Tatar said, "All these projects show that the TRNC is adapting to the increasingly digital world, scientifically and technologically."

Stating that AI Prof. DUX developed by artificial intelligence Will be instrumental in many innovations, President Tatar said, "Our students will make great personal progress with this project and will be able to fight against the global dangers that humanity may face in the future. Speaking at the introductory meeting of AI Prof DUX, which will give lectures at the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Department in the new academic year, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu said, “The Near East Family continues to be interested in many subjects by following them in a dynamic and strong way, and it has been achieving successful results in every subject they pursue.”

Minister Çavuşoğlu said, “Today, we are also sharing the excitement of one of these great achievements. Prof. DUX is an important step for the world in the field of artificial intelligence, but a giant step for our TRNC.” Stating that the use of artificial intelligence will become more widespread in the near future, Çavuşoğlu said, “With the studies carried out by the Near East University, our country will start using this technology effectively before many other countries. We, too, are excited about the thought of helping our students with this technology in schools at the Ministry of National Education.”

Stating that Cyprus is known as a student island and that it is one of the leading countries in education, Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined that the Near East University carried the TRNC to a further point with its studies in the field of science and technology.

Starting his speech by saying "We are together for a step that will go down in history not only for our university and our country, but also for the world," Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, "With the lecturers developed by our Artificial Intelligence Institute, artificial intelligence will become an active part of higher education in our university and in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the first time in the world outside the USA."

Today, as a reflection of this vision, we are happy to introduce AI Prof. DUX,” saying Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel further added; “Artificial intelligence will take personalization and interaction in education to a new level”.

Prof. Dr. Günsel continued his words by saying "I would like to introduce you to Mr. and Ms. AI Prof. DUX, our artificial intelligence-based professors who are now among the distinguished academicians of the Near East University." Explaining why they chose the name DUX after the video message of DUX, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “The word DUX means leader and guide in Latin, facilitating learning, and guiding learners. Also, the word DUX is also used in Australia and New Zealand to describe the brightest student in the class. I believe it is a name worthy of the change it will create and the potential it carries.”

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel further said, "We look forward to experiencing the value that DUX will add to our students and our education and to share the outputs we will obtain from these experiences with our Turkey through our Ministry of National Education, YODAK and HEC for the development of our higher education.”

Stating that they have experienced a milestone in artificial intelligence technology that will shape the future, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “As Near East University, we have decided to integrate artificial intelligence into our learning and teaching processes in order to use the full potential of our students and academic staff at the highest level by adopting innovative approaches in education.”

“Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform many industries today. It is not possible to exclude education, especially higher education, from this. Noting that artificial intelligence technology should be used consciously, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “We should not ignore some important risks and ethical issues along with the use of artificial intelligence in education.
